Single-Chip Solution for Automotive Radar Systems

Mouser Electronics, a distributor of electronic components focused on introducing new products and providing a large amount of inventory, will begin stocking AWR1843 automotive radar sensors from Texas Instruments today. AWR1843 ultra-wideband millimeter wave (mmWave) sensor with AEC-Q100 certification uses TI ’s low-power 45-nm RFCMOS process to achieve excellent integration in an ultra-small form factor, suitable for low-power, self-monitoring, and ultra-precise cars Radar system.

Mouser's stock TI AWR1843 is an integrated single-chip frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar sensor that can operate in the millimeter-wave band from 76 to 81 GHz. This monolithic system is manufactured using TI's RFCMOS process, with three transmit (TX) channels and four receive (RX) channels, as well as built-in phase-locked loop (PLL) and analog-to-digital converter (ADC). This sensor integrates a digital signal processor (DSP) subsystem that uses TI's high-performance C674xDSP to process radar signals, and a built-in self-test (BIST) processor subsystem for configuring, controlling, and calibrating the radio. The on-board user-programmable Arm® Cortex®-R4F processor performs object tracking and classification, AUTOSAR and interface control.

Mouser also stocks TI's AWR1843 BoosterPack, an easy-to-use evaluation board that can be directly connected to the TI LaunchPad development kit. This BoosterPack contains everything needed to develop suitable software for the on-chip C67x DSP core and the low-power Arm Cortex-R4F controller, including on-board emulation for programming and debugging, and buttons and LEDs for quick integration of simple user interfaces.
