Fujitsu launches 24GHz wireless Doppler radar sensor

Electronic system and component supplier Fujitsu Components America has introduced a 3-channel, 24GHz Doppler radar sensor FWM7RAZ01, which has a wide speed detection range and high anti-interference ability. Even without high-frequency radio frequency (RF) electronics expertise, you can use this module and evaluation kit to accelerate the development and evaluation of a variety of non-contact motion sensing products. Target applications include human vital signs and falls monitoring for medical and industrial markets, structural and mechanical motion detection, and machine maintenance.

FWM7RAZ01 supports 1Hz ~ 1MHz IF (I / Q) signal output, making it able to wirelessly detect the movement speed of 6mm / s ~ 6km / s within 30m range. Although the Doppler effect of 1MHz cannot be observed in practical applications, it is very effective for detecting signal interference. To prevent signal overlap, the system can choose different channels to avoid false detection.

The FWM7RAZ01 Doppler radar sensor integrates a 24GHz transceiver, TX and RX array antennas, IF amplifier, MCU, DAC, E2PROM and LDO regulator in a 30mm x 44mm x 9.5mm compact package. For designers unfamiliar with high-frequency RF circuits, the pin headers on the back of the module simplify integration. Compared with other detection schemes such as infrared, ultrasonic, and laser scanning, 24GHz radio waves are more stable and are not affected by environmental conditions such as weather, temperature, illumination, sound or dust. 24GHz radio waves also easily penetrate clothing, curtains, glass and most wooden structures.
